Frequently Asked Questions by Teachers

How much will I get paid?

Our rates of pay are highly competitive.  We pay teachers according to experience.

Do you use an umbrella company for pay?

No.  All our finances are controlled in-house. This allows us to pay you on time and deal with any queries you may have on a personal basis. We pay teachers a week in arrears by bank transfer.

How far will I be expected to travel?

We aim to place teachers in schools local to their home wherever possible.  Teachers would normally be asked to travel to a school with a journey time of no more than 45 minutes.

How much work will I get?

This will depend on your availability. You can increase your chances of work by responding to early morning calls.  Often when teachers go into a school and do a good job they are requested back.

I want to do some supply teaching/support but I have other commitments

Let us know when you are available and we will only consider you for work on those days.  It is up to you whether you accept any work offered. We are a friendly team at Cover and always treat people fairly.

How much does a DBS cost?

The cost of applying for a new DBS is £52 (one off fee). At Cover Teachers we give you your application number which allows you to track your application online.  Once you have received your DBS certificate you can register on the DBS up-date service for a further fee of £13 (annual fee). This will allow you to take your criminal record check from role to role saving you time and money.

I’m feeling a bit nervous about doing supply

Whatever your experience as a teacher the prospect of supply can be daunting.  At Cover all our consultants are teachers who understand how you feel.  We are happy to provide any help and support you might need.
